How are tags created?

I'm using free hosting, and I can't create tags when starting a new discussion. I would be very grateful if someone could explain how tags work and where they are stored. If someone could upload an example tag, I could duplicate it and manually create the tags I want to use on my board.

Creating Tags

Tags do not have a dedicated Create Tag page. Instead, they are created directly from the Tags field when creating a new discussion or editing an existing one.

1. Start typing a tag name (at least 2 characters).
2. If the tag does not already exist, a "Create this tag" option will appear.
3. Click the option (or press Enter) to create the tag and automatically attach it to the discussion.

Note: The Admin → Tags page only displays existing tags and allows administrators to rename or delete them.

Troubleshooting

If you do not see the "Create this tag" option, it is usually a permissions issue.

Creating tags requires the tag.create permission, which is typically granted to Members but not to Guests by default.

An administrator can review and update this permission under:

Admin → Permissions

and ensure that the appropriate user group has the tag.create permission enabled.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. What I meant is that on the free hosting service I use (InfinityFree), it is not possible, for example, to change file and folder permissions. Probably that this is why I can't create tags when starting a new discussion. I get the error message "Le nom du tag est requis" ("The tag name is required") even though the tag name has been entered.

That's why I thought I might be able to manually create a number of predefined tags on the server via FTP. However, I need to know in which folder on the server they are stored and what format/syntax they should have.

Tags Storage

Tags are stored in storage/json/tags.json.

Upcoming Improvement

In the next version, I plan to add the ability to create and manage tags directly from the administration panel.
